Trattoria Lunatica

A loud, joyful room on the Barbican where the chilli prawn linguine arrives glossy and dangerous and you fight your friends for the last forkful.

Chilli prawn linguine

Linguine, obviously. Then the ricotta budino. Then more budino.

Pasta that ruins all other pasta for you. We are not sorry.

Trattoria Lunatica is exactly the kind of mad, generous Italian the Barbican deserves. Checked tablecloths, a wine list scrawled on a mirror, and a kitchen that clearly cooks like nobody is watching the costings.

The chilli prawn linguine is the reason to come: a slippery, garlicky, gently violent plate that walks the line between elegant and unhinged. The ricotta budino for dessert is a wobbling cloud that we ordered twice.

It is not subtle and it does not want to be. You leave full, a little flushed, and already texting people the name as you walk back along the harbour.
